Crazy, Stupid, Love.

So a friend of mine posted this video in response to his viewing of the movie "Crazy, Stupid, Love." And in his video he brings up some very good points that I just wanted to elaborate, and some questions that I wanted to answer in my own response.

5 and a half years ago I met a man and instantly knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. I know it's cliche but very true, so true in fact that I even told my best friend I would spend my life with him. I fought for a year and a half to finally make him mine, the man to finally call my own. Since that first day we met, I've been fighting to keep him. Like my friend Jorge, I don't give up so easily, because I don't want to be left with regrets. So I've done everything imaginable to keep this man in my arms for 5 and a half years. I've finally reached the end of my rope and can not fight any longer. I am mentally, physically, and emotionally, exhausted of giving my all and investing all of me into this relationship to work. I recently began to pull away, he's always asked for distance and I've finally given it to him. I didn't say a word, or announce my unhappiness, I simply just pulled away. As I began to do so, my body in all aspects began to conflict with my heart, my mind told me to be done and walk away, my legs lead me to the door, and my emotions completely shutdown at the thought of him. But my heart never gave up, no matter how hard I try to bury the love I have for this man, it still overpowers the rest of my body.
Just yesterday he did something that I've waited 5 years for him to do, and it literally blew me away. As I started to cut him out of my life, he did something so out of character, something I've longed for, and pulled me right back in. Am I a fool ? perhaps! I didn't know at the very instant I knew I would love this man that heartache was a possibility, but it was something I very quickly realized it was. It was my motivation to fight harder to keep my man. We're not perfect in any shape or form but my love for him is something that I just can't shake. Will I continue to see this through, more than likely. Why? because I don't want to wake up one day and think, what if ? or I don't want to stare at old pictures and think, If only... So like Jorge asked, when is enough, enough? My answer would have to be when every fragment of your soul shuts down, when every piece of your being is telling you enough, when you hear his voice and feel nothing, when even though your mad face is on, there is no love behind it, then that's enough. Sometimes the easiest way is to walk away, and that's just what it is, easy. And sometimes he just doesn't love you as much as you love him.
Life isn't easy, and I don't expect love to be, the title is self explanatory, it's crazy, it's stupid, but that's love.

Sexism in Delano ?

So I was laying in bed last night and I was running a list in my head of places where I could apply for employment. I can't do hard larbor, my body is not made for it, so it would have to be something else. Then I thought it would be great if I could earn tips. HMM ! Then it dawned on me... There is only one restaurant that comes to mind where MEN are actually hired as servers, Denny's. Every other restaurant in Delano only hires Women as servers/ waitresses. See the problem?
So again I ran a list in my head started to notice that every restaurant I've ever been too in Delano only has women servers. Perko's Diner, I've never seen a male server. Mi Nayarit, only has women servers and cooks. LR's Pizza only has women as bartenders. The Elks Lodge only has women as bartenders. Carmen's Mexican food, only women servers. Jenny's Cafe, only women servers. Can you see where I'm going with this. Where is a man like me suppose to get a job that earns tips, in Delano. Do I have to have a vagina for that, is that on the application as a pre-requisite, or maybe it's listed under the "Equal Opportunity Act". So I ask again do you believe there is Sexism in Delano. Yes! I do ! Unless I want to work at a fast food restaurant, or out in sun as a city employee, a field worker, or a warehouse employee. Where are my options ? Why are men not being employed for these positions just as women are, it's not because of looks. Tips are left based on service, if a customer is satisfied with your service then you get a tip. I know both male and female servers in restaurants in Visalia, California and the men make more than the women. So it's not looks. In my opinion it's the employer who prefers to hire women as servers because it is more visually appealing to them than a man.
Fact : A local restaurant owner was asked while in my presence, " Do you only hire women?" his response "Yes!"
Sexist much ?

Lipglossip's Boy Band's & Where Are They Now ?

Backstreet Boys, I can still remember when they first came into the scene I was completely ecstatic. Since the rise and fall of boy bands, the original band members are still working on a new album minus one member, Kevin Richardson. BSB are currently on tour with the New Kids on the Block. Nick Carter began his solo career and acting career, Brian Littrell is also a solo artist emphasizing on Christian Music. A.J. McLean began his solo career and acting career. Howie Dorough became a singer/song writer. And Kevin Richardson became an actor.

One of the most successful boy bands in the world is still in the lime light, individually that is. Since their split in 2002 Justin Timberlake became a solo artist and created his own clothing line. Joey Fatone became an actor. Lance Bass became a certified NASA astronaut, is openly Gay, and an actor. JC Chasez became a solo artist, song writer, and reality show judge. And finally Chris Kirkpatrick created his own clothing line as well.

98 Degrees, I wasn't really into them except for having a crush on Nick Lacey. Who after the group split in 2002, became a reality t.v. star with his show "The Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica ". Drew Lacey became a father and appeared on dancing with the stars. Justin Jeffre ran for Mayoral office in Ohio. And Jeff Timmons became a solo artist.

Since their debut on MTV's Making the Band, the group struggled to gain the respect of critics for their music. Following suite after N'SYNC, Backstreet Boys, Westlife, 98 Degrees, etc. the group only released one album. Since 2003 when the group split, Ashley Angel starred in his own MTV reality show, worked on broadway and continues to work on solo projects as well. Jacob Underwood, is a solo artist living in Nashville. Erik Estrada became an actor. And Dan Miller is now producing his own music.

Really only remembered for this one song, LFO split in 2002 as well, which seemed to be a trend in 2002. Rich Cronin, the lead singer, died on September 8, 2010 at the age of 36. Brad Frischetti has since then not been heard of. And Devin Lima formed another group and released an album.

And finally my all time favorite, New Kids on the Block. After their split in 1994 the band has since then reformed and is currently on tour with fellow boy band Backstreet Boys. Jonathon Knight lives life as an openly Gay man, and went into real estate. Jordan Knight became a solo artist working on his 3rd album. Joey McIntyre also became a solo artist releasing his 5th album, and working on acting projects as well. Danny Wood started his own record label and is also a private jet sales executive. Donnie Wahlberg became an accredited actor.

Violent Lips

Omg! So I was going to blog about Gaga's new album and the messages within, until I received a Facebook message from my best friend to check out the site link above... I'm in LOVE! The idea is basically temporary tattoo designs for your lips. Instead of taking an hour to create some fantastic design you can actually due this in about 10 minutes.. I've yet to purchase my fair share of this amazing new craze, but I have a pretty good idea it's going to be HOT! The possibilities Violent Lips can create is endless and they seem to be trendy styles as well. They have a new glitter collection coming out which is all the craze right now. I've actually tried the glitter on your lips method, via you tube tutorials, and I have to say it works but after about 15 mins. you start to eat the glitter and it rubs all over the place, not to mention the reapplying. So I'm super excited to try those out, with out any of the hassle. I'll be sure to post pictures up of how the lips turn out! I highly recommend you try this product.

Bullying Stops Here

As I was sitting through my lecture today for my child development class, we were studying the effects of bullying and the role it plays in our schools and the effects it has on our youth. I couldn't help but wonder, why we put so much emphasis in our schools to "Stop the Bullying" when the emphasis should be in our society as a whole. Our society bully's the Gay community everyday by denying us our born given rights. We are forced to pay more money in taxes, which compares to a bully stealing lunch money from a student. We are beaten down everyday by the reminder that we can not legally marry, which can compare to a gay student being beaten for holding his partner's hand. So as we continue to make the school safer for our LGBTQ youth, shouldn't or don't we owe them the right as well as ourselves to put pressure on our government and society to "Stop The Bullying" in life in general. It's commonly noted that bully's do so because they are afraid, or feel less than others, and the only way to receive any sort of social value is to devalue those that are different. Well when you look at the world we live in, we as a Gay community are being bullied, and I'm sick of it. Just because I love with in the same sex, my love is not any different than anyone else. My heart beats just like yours, I bleed just as you bleed, and I hurt just as you hurt. It saddens me to know that it took the lives of so many of our youth to finally send a message out that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated any longer. And we as adults, should continue to take the stand, and fight against our Government's bullying against us. That we will no longer be considered less than, that we will not deny ourselves of the same privileges heterosexuals are guaranteed, solely because they love the opposite sex. We work just as hard and yet we pay more of a price. We're given freedom and yet we're confined to a cage of what's socially acceptable. We're literally chained by our ankles and wrists to keep from living a fulling life, because "Big Brother" is threatened by our lifestyle. We sing songs, we write books, and we televise of one day having the freedom to live life in all it's fulfillment, to be FREE ! A right that is given to us by birth. To be Bully FREE! Free of the chains, of the cage, of the restrictions, and of devalue. We are equals, and only as equals will we be at peace ! "Let My People Go!"

*TAKE A STAND *STOP THE BULLYING *

Wipe the Shit Off the Walls

At College of the Sequoias we're not only getting an education but we're getting a life lesson as well. As I make my way to my morning class I stop by the men's room to use the facility, since it happens to be a long walk from my car to my class. As I stand in the stall I'm greeted by messages written by gang members, hateful people, and people simply leaving their names behind as a momentum in time. But one word stands out in particular, "Fag It", this enrages me further. Not only am I disappointed in the fact that these markings have been up all semester, but the fact that not one school official has bothered to clean these markings up, regardless of the fact that every morning I'm offended. I'm offended and I'm reminded that my value as a person is domineered, I'm reminded to stand up and be heard. It's been months, and every morning that men's room is clean and is evident by the schedule on the door with signatures of the staff who cleaned it. Why the negligence over this ?  is it because California had to cut back on staff and hire students to be the janitorial service at minimum wage. Or simply because, THEY DON'T CARE. I personally have had enough ! I'm not spending my hard earned money at a school that does not carry the responsibility to manage these kinds of indiscretions or offenses. Why does it bother me so? Who's to say one morning as I make my way to may class the man who wrote that awful word and misspelled it, decides he's had enough with "Fag It's" and decides to cause harm. Will someone even hear me or find me since it's clear no one cares about that men's room. Am I safe? NO. And the disappointing part is that it's not only that particular men's room. I traveled all campus in search of a men's room where I would not be offended and I found one. One, in a building that has less than a year on campus, and even then I found a marking of gang affiliation. But the others, Oh the others, were practically written on from ceiling to floor, corner to corner in graffiti. I've even found an empty beer bottle in one about a month ago. I've had enough ! I'm posting this on my blog because I'm standing up and stating that I should not have to face these circumstances everyday. I'm sorry our budget was cut, but we can't afford to have someone paint that wall, then Mr. President, to maintain your students in your school, I suggest you slip into a jumper's suit and grab a brush. Because if your school continues to offend people as it has offended me, you are going to one major event in your quad... So I leave with saying this... "WIPE THE SHIT OFF THE WALLS, literally. "

Does Love Really Exist ?

What I've come to learn in my own experiences and by observing others relationships around me, is the possibility that love may not really exist. Sure we might get those butterflies in our stomach and we might smile uncontrollably, but how long does that last. It doesn't last forever, at some point or another all those emotions you once felt are gone. You wake up one morning look in the mirror and wonder to yourself, what am i doing in this relationship. So I can't help but wonder is our search really for that one true love, or is it simply for companionship. Has our society put such an emphasis on romance and love stories as children, that it's simply become too impossible to obtain. I spent the better half of a week searching and browsing profiles of singles in and around my location, and a pattern was starting to reveal itself. "looking for my prince", "looking for Mr. Right","could you be the one", are just a few of the ocean of headings all searching for the same. The endless photos of half naked men, and desperate commendations, in hopes that their words would be the words to hook the big fish, from the sea of men. I stared at these men's photos and wondered to myself, were they searching for the impossible fairy tale love story, or are they just lonely.
It's my theory that as the years progress and the comfort begins to settle that you know everything there is to know about your lover, that the spark begins to die. He's no longer exciting to you, that man you met in the beginning no longer exists, and no matter how hard you both try to bring that man back, it's never the same. So I have to ask, are we so afraid of being alone, that what we are really searching for is a companionship of sorts rather than the fairy tale. Are we willing to settle for that man who destroys our self esteem, who keeps us trapped in our own homes, who makes every other person feel like the world except you, all because we're so afraid to be alone. I see the life of so many people dwindle away, escape through their fingers by these impossible loveless relationships, because they're so afraid of starting over, because they're self esteem has been shattered, or because they simply don't want to put in the effort to search for "love". What we are doing is changing the lives of future generations to believe that love really does not exist, that we can marry who we wish, and a year later divorce that person for their best friend. That monogamy is simply a theory, and relationships are only for those too afraid to be alone. I look back to the 20's, and 40's and 60's when love was deeply emphasized in black in white movies, novels, music and art, and I compare to movies, novels, music, and art of today and it is clear that our society has fallen out of love. We have to remake old fairy tale movies and stories because we don't know how to manifest new "love stories", we base our novels and movies in older generations when love was clearly emphasized, as opposed to today. The music, listen to the words, we sing about heartache, cheating, and emotions of despair and no longer sing about love, true love. We have fallen so out of love, we no longer remember what it is, how to keep it when we've found it, or how to find it.
Love is not amount in a man's bank account, or whether his eyes are blue or brown. Whether he is naturally olive skinned or if he self tans, it's not about whether he's financially free, or flips burgers for a living. Whether he wears Armani, or fruit of the loom. It's about the feeling you get when he enters the room, the way your body responds to his voice, the way your body and soul ache when he's away. It's not whether he'll arrive on a white horse or 1990 Honda Civic, it's about the him arriving at all. We've been searching for all of the wrong qualities, because Cinderella lived in a castle, we want the castle and all it's belongings and later photo shop in the prince. Love is out there for everyone, and it's right in front of our eyes, and the only thing you have to search for, is how to love. Not who

One World ?

It's intrigues to me to see and hear how naive people can be. To believe that the world should function in only one manner in order for it to work. For example, I was having a debatable conversation with an old friend about gay marriage and equality, now I respect different point of views to an extent, you have to know what you're talking about before trying to have a debate with me. Anyway, the conversation went on about what's right and what's viewed as wrong, here we go. Breeders (Straight People) are generally afraid of change because to allow Gays to marry would so called, ruin the sanction of what marriage entails. So to me what is being said, is that marriage should be a contract only entered if one person's life is ruined by pregnancy then marriage should follow. Or a sanction in which one person marries a millionaire only to inherit the money after a sudden death of the millionaire. And finally that marriage should only be entered into when sufficient time has passed and instead of starting the dating game again, might as well marry since by chance you already 1+ kids together, or from a financial stand point it makes sense to remain together. And, let's not forget the quick marriage only entered for a year then decided that it wasn't really the greatest experience that everyone else said it was going to be, and ends in divorce.
Instead of marriage being entered for the mere reason as two people loving each other more than words can express, the ultimate showcase would be to commit to each other for life, and to celebrate this union with friends and family and to be recognized by all that these two people love each other so much, no matter what, they are together for life.People would like the "Sanction" of marriage to be the listed as the first paragraph above. That to me is naive. What should it matter if the two happen to be of the same sex or opposite sex, or opposite sex than changed to be the same or vise versa. The fact of the matter is, that all "God" really wanted for us is to be happy, if you take the Bible literally. Which leads me to another point you can't take verses from the Bible to suit your own agenda because the opponent group can do the same and it's an endless battle of versus and scriptures that ultimately are proven to contradict each other in these manners. Not to mention the fact that the so called "Bible" has been re-written over a hundred times to accommodate interpretations that make sense today, which are not what the original scriptures may have meant. And is a collaboration of stories and tales told from perspectives of different people, told by friends of them and put together because at one point or another were spoken to by God or had a vision.
Back to my main point, it's naive to believe that life has to be lived in one manner, by saying that only Breeders are allowed to marry, and gays are not, it's saying that only white people have the right to be here and other races do not, because they don't fit the "right" description. Look around people the world is made up of differences, different races, cultures, people, languages, colors, etc. So to think that marriage is to only remain one main definition is completely unrealistic.
The Gay couple that lives across the street from you, the one's you strongly opposed the right for equality, are not equal enough to enter into marriage because they happen to be of the same sex. But are however, equal enough to take care of your teenage daughter's child, the one she was too young to take care of on her own. The child you made her put up for adoption because you knew that as a family you could not give this child the love and family it deserved. No, the Gays could not enter marriage because you thought it was wrong, but it's not wrong for them to adopt this child and give it the love and family you never could. Come on! don't you think that's pretty naive. Because after all who do you think adopts all those unwanted children that are left behind by teenage mothers, cracked out parents, and unfit parents... that's right the loving Gay couple. Think about that before you go and judge someone because of what they look on the outside, should that really account for the love they feel on the inside. Marriage Equality

Teen Mom

Ok so here we go! I don't know why the big deal about this couple, yes I understand that the footage of Amber beating up Gary as he leaves her apartment is harsh and the baby is in the room, but where was the media the other times she beat the crap out of him. I am a fan of the show, although supporting the ratings only supports teen pregnancy (teen pregnancy=television show=fame) and we are exploiting these mothers for our entertainment, but it has a good message in the end. Although I watch religiously, I can account for plenty of other times that Amber has gone Sugar Ray Leonard on Gary's ass. Why this particular incident, it was my impression the first season and even at the reunion when Dr. Drew talked to Amber about her spousal abuse, that someone would have intervened. Instead there was a commercial at the beginning of each break, asking to report spousal abuse and treatment is available. UGH! HELLO! MTV! you played the clip over and over, and we watched her cry and apologize and yet you let her continue for another season. According to gossip magazines, reports say that Amber feels her life is over because of the baby, and all she has going for her is the show. NO! she figured out that by having a baby, and another she'll be making money, it's easy money, just ask Kate Gosselin.
However, we can't place all of the blame on poor Amber, if you turn on MTV or VH1 you'll find shows like, Tough Love, Tool Academy, Bad Girls Club, Real World, etc. All of these shows promote violence and promiscuity (another blog) and these young people are glued to their television sets watching and being influenced by these shows. Which also accounts for the intellectual decline in our society as well, but that's a whole another blog session. My point is this, was it wrong for Amber to abuse Gary ? YES ! Is it wrong for the media to blow this out of proportion, NOW ? Yes! they should have intervened sooner when the first incident occurred. So don't go around hating on Amber, because she has no one to actually guide her on how to be a good mother, and I'm sure there are mothers out there that do things in front of their children that they should not be doing. And that perhaps could have their children taken away as well. I see it everywhere, and everyday. My second point, is that I'm glad they finally took her child away to make a point, that she needs help because who knows how far or how rough she could be. So before you go and attack me for my opinion, I would love to her yours...
